Similar to the recent storm swept through the northern region the night before, City overwhelmed the visitors aside at the Etihad. It was a statement three-nil win for the City coach's side thanks to goals from Knaak, Bunny Shaw and Hemp. It was a display that clearly signaled their championship potential as they strengthened their standing at the league summit.

This result signalled successive league losses for Marc Skinner’s side for the initial occasion since spring 2024, placing them a sizable gap off the top team with their championship aspirations in serious doubt.
