Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, outpaced the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, trailing 36 points behind Norris, ended up in 17th position as his Red Bull team opted for a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, albeit lightly, when he rotated at corner four during the early running.
Tsunoda spun out over the exit kerbs before rotating through the gravel trap, and was lucky to get away with just a slight brush of the wall.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the conclusion of the practice, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner approaching the final bend on to the start-finish straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in P19, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
